AWARDS

St Peter’s school has been awarded the nationally recognised Inverstors in Pupils Award.

The Investors in Pupils award is based on four principles:-

Commitment - Review - Action - Improvement

These are achieved through five key areas:

Learning - Behaviour - Attendance - Classroom Management - Induction

It helps pupils find out why they go to school, about the jobs of everyone in the schol and how each person is involved in their education.  It supports them in making rules for the class, in setting targets for the class and for themselves whilst recognising the important of relationships and teamwork and the roles and responsibilities of everyone involved in their education.

St Peter’s school has been awarded the nationally recognized Healthy School Standard Award.  We have been recognized as a school that is successful:

- in helping pupils to do their best and build on their achievements.

- in its commitment to on-going improvement and development.

- in promoting physical and emotional health by providing accessible and relevant information and equipping pupils with the skills and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health.

- in recognizing the importance of investing in the health of its pupils and staff to assist in the process of raising pupil achievement and improving standards.

- in recognizing the need to provide both a physical and social environment that is conductive to learning.

As part of our commitment to the Healthy School Award we continue to run a School Council which is made up of two children from each class in Key Stage Two and have formulated an action plan for the Healthy School Award.

We are proud to announce that St Peter's have been awarded a prestigious national award by Sport England.  Sport England is the country's leading strategic sports development agency.

Activemark is a national accreditation programme, which recognises schools that show a commitment to promoting the benefits of physical activity.  To achieve an award the school must offer a well balanced phsical education programme; provide an environment that encourages physical activity and teaches children the importance of staying active for life.

We strive to ensure that physical activity has a high profile throughout the school and that our pupils have access to appropriate opportunities to be active both within lessons and out of school hours.  Achievement of the Activemark award acknowledges the high level of our physical activity provision.

Acheivement of the award has required the school to complete a thorough application process.  We have welcomed this opportunity to review our physical activity and physical education provision and are delighted to receive recognition for the wide range of opportunities we provide for all pupils.

We aim to provide all our pupils with the opportunity to be active and have an enjoyable and satisfying experience in doing so, whatever their level of ability.  In this way, we hope to foster a positive attitude towards physical activity so that pupils continue to participate in, and reap the benefits of, a physically active lifestyle.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped to make the achievement of this award possible.
